Ever since last year that it was formally announced that Amazon would be creating a digital series adapted from BioWare's ME franchise, followers speculated if it had the guts to narrate an unique story and not focusing on Commander Shepard, the customizable character from the initial games. In a online update recently, they received their answer.
BioWare senior producer Mike Gamble confirmed the show would "investigate a brand-new story within the universe’s chronology, and will be placed subsequent to the initial trilogy." The message goes on, "Expect no a repetition of Commander Shepard’s story – because in the end … that’s YOUR story, isn’t it?"
Seemingly, this suggests the show could be about the races of the Milky Way restoring the galaxy in the after-effects of ruin caused by the reapers. It may also occur centuries in the years ahead, like Mass Effect: Andromeda. "After the original trilogy" leaves plenty for the imagination. Not any performers have been revealed at this time, but Star Trek Beyond writer Doug Jung was chosen to serve as series lead and senior producer in June. Daniel Casey is also a writer and executive producer on the show.
As for the forthcoming Mass Effect game, Gamble's update doesn't share too many information. In response to the talk and rumors that BioWare might be sold off as due to EA's $55 billion sale to investment groups, featuring Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Gamble emphasizes "the upcoming Mass Effect title is in creation, and EA and BioWare are still committed to sharing more stories in this universe."
BioWare is "focused and focused exclusively on Mass Effect," suggesting that the group has "a lot of world to cover, lots of features to create, and numerous relationships to figure out" for the next release. "We look forward by what we’re building, and we promise you: as soon as we’re prepared, it’ll be a lot of fun to reveal."
Various characters are emphasized in the announcement, and combined they read "Krogan N7 URL." The meaning is unclear what this is indicating, though it's certainly suggesting something — the blog post ends with a teasing P.S. noting, "Warning: there is zero hidden project content to be discovered by whatever my words at present, I swear."
The Krogan are shown in free illustrations EA released for fans to access in observance of N7 Day. Titled "Civil War," the picture depicts multiple Krogan warriors in battle. Along with the "URL Krogan N7" hint, it's possible one more small clue on the journey leading to the upcoming Mass Effect.
The seventh of November marks N7 Day annually, a day for BioWare and Mass Effect followers to observe the space opera. It's typically when BioWare has hinted at the forthcoming new release, like how in 2023 it displayed an N7 agent in a fashionable coat.
